I would like to be referred for general surgery to the hospital with the shortest wait.

Under the NHS Constitution, when my GP refers me for a first outpatient appointment I have the right to choose which provider I go to in England, including independent hospitals that hold an NHS contract. I would like to use that right.

The three shortest waits within 25 miles of Cornwall

1. Probus Surgical Centre (independent hospital, free on the NHS)
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 8 to 20 weeks. 2.7 miles from Cornwall. ODS code NAM01.
2. Duchy Hospital (independent hospital, free on the NHS)
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 12 to 27 weeks. 8.2 miles from Cornwall. ODS code NVC04.
3. Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 17 to 49 weeks. 8.2 miles from Cornwall. ODS code REF.
