I would like to be referred for trauma and orthopaedics to the hospital with the shortest wait.

Under the NHS Constitution, when my GP refers me for a first outpatient appointment I have the right to choose which provider I go to in England, including independent hospitals that hold an NHS contract. I would like to use that right.

The three shortest waits within 25 miles of Leeds

1. York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 6 to 47 weeks. 22.4 miles from Leeds. ODS code RCB.
2. Huddersfield Private Hospital (independent hospital, free on the NHS)
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 8 to 22 weeks. 14 miles from Leeds. ODS code NT448.
3. Duchy Hospital (independent hospital, free on the NHS)
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 10 to 40 weeks. 12.9 miles from Leeds. ODS code NT447.
