I would like to be referred for general surgery to the hospital with the shortest wait.

Under the NHS Constitution, when my GP refers me for a first outpatient appointment I have the right to choose which provider I go to in England, including independent hospitals that hold an NHS contract. I would like to use that right.

The three shortest waits within 25 miles of Redcar and Cleveland

1. County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 7 to 55 weeks. 21 miles from Redcar and Cleveland. ODS code RXP.
2. Nuffield Health, Tees Hospital (independent hospital, free on the NHS)
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 8 to 27 weeks. 11.4 miles from Redcar and Cleveland. ODS code NT237.
3. Tees Valley Hospital (independent hospital, free on the NHS)
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 10 to 24 weeks. 8.6 miles from Redcar and Cleveland. ODS code NVC0R.
