I would like to be referred for general surgery to the hospital with the shortest wait.

Under the NHS Constitution, when my GP refers me for a first outpatient appointment I have the right to choose which provider I go to in England, including independent hospitals that hold an NHS contract. I would like to use that right.

The three shortest waits within 25 miles of York

1. Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 5 to 28 weeks. 20.8 miles from York. ODS code RR8.
2. Spire Leeds Hospital (independent hospital, free on the NHS)
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 10 to 27 weeks. 19.6 miles from York. ODS code NT332.
3. Spire Methley Park Hospital (independent hospital, free on the NHS)
   Most people treated in August 2026 waited 10 to 37 weeks. 20.8 miles from York. ODS code NT350.
